Joseph, a promising young talent in West Indies cricket, was eventually given out LBW. With this, the West Indies innings came to an abrupt halt as Joseph, unable to continue, had to retire hurt. He displayed evident signs of immense pain and, after removing his shoe and assessing his thumb, walked out of the field.

Hope this isn’t how Shamar Joseph’s series comes to an end. But after being able to ground that foot for a couple of yards, you could see him give up on putting any pressure on it. Good to see the Gabba crowd clap him off #AusvWI pic.twitter.com/mV5wGmubjY

West Indies left with two frontline pacers for the remaining match
Though the tour party’s second innings ended with a lead of 215 runs, they are now left with just two frontline quicks for the remainder of the match. While a target of 216 has never been successfully chased in the fourth innings of a pink ball Test, the absence of Joseph could prove crucial for the West Indies.
The 24-year-old has been the leading wicket-taker for the visitors in his debut series and also served as the primary disruptor of partnerships, consistently taking wickets against the run of play.
