Inspirations from cricketing icons
During the presentation ceremony, Bumrah shared insights into his bowling technique, revealing that cricketing legends such as Zaheer Khan, Wasim Akram, and Waqar Younis had inspired him to master the art of bowling yorkers from a young age.
“I don’t look at numbers. As a youngster I did that, and it made me excited. But now it’s an added baggage. As a youngster, that is the first delivery I learned (yorker). Had seen the legends of the game. Waqar, Wasim and even Zaheer Khan,” Bumrah said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
Notably, in the second Test, Bumrah achieved another milestone by becoming the quickest Indian fast bowler to reach 150 wickets in Test cricket. He accomplished this impressive feat after bowling 6781 deliveries in the longest format of the game.
